the swaps that make it work
soy sauce
→ low-sodium tamari or coconut aminos
Cuts sodium by ~40% without losing umami; supports heart health.
sugar in dressing
→ ½ tsp honey or omit entirely
Reduces added sugar significantly; keeps the dressing balanced.
4 oz chicken
→ 5 oz chicken + 2 oz edamame
Boosts protein and fiber; edamame adds plant-based phytoestrogens and calcium for bone health.
soba (any brand)
→ 100% buckwheat soba if available
More fiber, better blood sugar stability, and true buckwheat is naturally gluten-free.
